Beyond the Border aims to explore and artistically convey ideas surrounding migration, linguistics, and roots within cultural, racial and ethnic identities through established artists from international and local settings. In particular, the exhibit will focus on the preservation of these origins through contemporary art methods as residents within environments outside of their birthplace in Australia. With significance on hosting a diverse demographic inclusive of ethnicity, gender, age and faith, each participant will highlight their distinct methods of expressing their roots within greatly differing contexts, showcased through mediums of painting, mixed media, drawing or sculpture. Terms and conditions apply for participation. Selection committee will select the artworks for this show. Commission will be charged on sales during the show on selected entrees. Directed by international award-winning artist Shazia Imran, the newly established gallery opened its doors in late 2022 known prior as the Former Coroner's Court, a significant Sydney heritage site.
The gallery aims to support local, national and international artists that are primarily Sydney based to extend Sydney art cultures and influences in a professionally curated space. |
