Women in Art 2024

The Rhythm of Life with Art
Solo show by Madeleine Ekeblad When: 19 Oct - 1 Nov 2022 Where: AAD Gallery, The Rocks, NSW, 2000 (Sydney, Australia) Incorporating art with dance and music, Australian artist Madeleine Ekeblad captures rhythm through her practice using painting and manuscript collage techniques. Using freeform methods to create her romantic pieces, the use of the lady in red acts as the centrepiece for most of her subjects, showcasing a joyful narrative through an experience with music and dance. |

Pursuing striking female portraits, Sydney-based Argentinian/Australian artist Leonardo Baca Storni draws inspirations from his travels to depict painterly images of dynamic female figures and personalities. Utilising colour and texture to express his ideas, vibrant palettes and distinct applications of paint generate the emotional depth and calmness residing in his subjects. His extensive background and experiences in travel heavily influence the figures he depicts, choosing female subjects from varied ethnicities. Offering a colourful perspective on his figures, Leonardo investigates the tradition of portraiture and its ability to communicate a vast range of impressions and stories.

Wishful Thinking - Solo exhibition by Elizabeth Langreiter

Inspired by the unprecedented and horrific events of 2020 Elizabeth retreated into her imaginary world and created a series of paintings she called Wishful Thinking. These paintings were created by remembering happier days of traveling freely to beautiful parts of Australia and the world. She hopes the viewer can escape to this imaginary world too and feel the happiness in her art.

Parisa always admires the beauty of botanical gardens. She thinks even when they dry out, they still hold a perfect charm with their unique forms and lines.
The series is inviting the viewer to see how Parisa’s art is reanimating lifeless flowers.

Jan Cristaudo lives on the Pittwater Peninsular among Sydney’s beautiful northern beaches. This idyllic location, together with her frequent travels, provides an endless source of inspiration.
The use of colour is her preferred method of expression and she has a distinctive style using oils on canvas to interpret the subjects that inspire her.
This exhibition is based on her travels through the Australian landscape and capturing the uniqueness of it.
