Original Artwork

Melbourne-based artist Julee Latimer uses a combination of painting, sculpture and textile to explore the dynamic and intricate themes of migration, renewal and change. Challenging the boundaries between these traditional and contemporary practices, Latimer uses house paint as a pliable material that underlies her abstract pieces. Engaging with primarily weaving methods inspired by her family background in knitting and BFA in sculpture, Latimer’s abstract structures are a literal exploration of lineage through threading. Having lived and worked in various locations globally, she uses ideas of deconstruction, rearrangement and construction found in her transformative experiences. Each piece carries a narrative - fragmented stories, attachments, relationships and discoveries.

The size mentioned is dimensions of the artwork. If the artwork is framed, please add roughly 3-4 cm for floating external frames for artworks on canvas.

The frame is approximately 1cm and there is an approximate 0.5cm gap between the frame and the canvas to give the shadow line effect.
