Angelika Erbsland

Angelika Erbsland's practice explores the interconnectedness of nature through colour, form and movement. Drawing from the natural world, landscape, figures and memory, Erbsland creates paintings that move between recognisable imagery and abstraction, inviting viewers to look beyond the surface of the landscape and consider the relationships that sustain it.

Her most recent series, 'Forest Networks', are particularly informed by the complex networks found within forests and the unseen connections between trees, plants and their surrounding ecosystems. Organic shapes, layered forms and rhythmic lines suggest growth, movement and interdependence, transforming natural structures into compositions that are both expressive and contemplative. Working primarily in acrylic, watercolour and mixed media, she often paints from memory and imagination, allowing observed environments to become transformed into atmospheric and semi-abstract interpretations.

With a practice spanning more than four decades, Erbsland continues to explore the relationship between observation, memory and imagination.
